For those who didn't make it to page 249 of "The Anthropic Cosmological
Principle" by John Barrow and Frank Tipler, I quote
"In a randomly infinite Universe, any event occurring here and
now with finite probability must be occurring simultaneously at
an infinite number of other sites in the Universe. It is hard to
evaluate this idea any further, but one thing is certain: if it
is true then it is certainly not original!"
When we contemplate the whole globe as one great dewdrop iped and
dotted with continents and islands, flying through space with all other
stars all singing and shining together as one, the whole universe appears
as an infinite storm of beauty....
God does not play dice with the universe; He plays an ineffable game of his
own devising which might be compared, from the perspective of any of the
other players, to being involved in an obscure and complex version of poker
in a pitch dark room, with blank cards, for infinite stakes, with a dealer
who won't tell you the rules, and who smiles all the time....
