Rare under UNIX, more common among hackers who grew up with ITS, MS-DOS, CP/M and other operating systems that were strongly influenced by early DEC conventions....
codes: [scientific computing] n. Programs. This usage is common in people who hack supercumputers and heavy-duty {number-crunching}
are to unknown elsewhere (if you say "codes" to hackers outside scientific computing, their first association is likely to be "and cyphers")....
pin: vi. Equivalent to {buzz}. More common among C and UNIX programmers.
