DISNEY FILES BANKRUPTCY PAPERS

Media mega-giant Disney has asked for protection from creditors,
filing bankruptcy papers early Wednesday morning in Burbank City
Court.

Just last week, Disney was a model of financial strength And boasted
dividends on its stock that were well above industry analysts'
projections. So what went wrong? According to Disney CEO Michael
Eisner, the collapse was due to an Internet promotion gone terribly
awry. It seems that Disney's Head of Internet Marketing, Millicent
Perkins, took it upon herself to start a chain letter promotion in
conjunction with software giant Microsoft in which Disney would pay
$5,000 in cash or an all-expenses paid trip to Orlando's Disneyworld
theme park to the first 13,000 people who received a copy of Perkins'
initial message.

However, due to the tremendous increase in Internet users over the last
several months, over 30 million people received the message
simultaneously, causing Disney to have to pay out over $150 billion
dollars, which in turn forced the company to move quickly to
bankruptcy court to try to save itself. Eisner immediately asked that all
Disney employees pitch in by taking a small paycut, and made himself
an example by lopping $235 a month off of his $30 million yearly
salary. Reached for comment, Eisner said, "What the hell was that
broad thinking??"

Women of the Century". JANE FONDA remembered?

Unfortunately, many have forgotten and still countless others have never
Known how Ms. Fonda betrayed not only the idea of our "country" but the
men who served and sacrificed during Vietnam.
There are few things I have strong visceral reactions to, but
Jane Fonda's participation in what I believe to be blatant treason,
is one of them. Part of my conviction comes from exposure to
those who suffered her attentions. The first part of this is from an
F-4E pilot. The pilot's name is Jerry Driscoll, a River Rat. In 1978,
The Commandant of the USAF Survival School was a former POW in Ho
Lo Prison-the "Hanoi Hilton". Dragged from a stinking cesspit of a cell,
cleaned, fed, and dressed in clean PJs, he was ordered to describe for a
visiting American "Peace Activist" the "lenient and humane treatment"
he'd received. He
spat at Ms. Fonda, was clubbed, and dragged away. During the
subsequent beating, he fell forward upon the camp Commandant's feet,
accidentally pulling the man's shoe off-which sent that officer berserk.
In '78, the AF Col still suffered from double vision (which
permanently ended his flying days) from the Vietnamese Col's frenzied
application of wooden baton.
From 1983-85, Col Larry Carrigan was the 347FW/DO (F-4Es). He spent 6
years
in the "Hilton"-the first three of which he was "missing in action". His
wife lived on faith that he was still alive. His group, too, got the
cleaned/fed/clothed routine in preparation for a "peace delegation"
visit.
They, however, had time and devised a plan to get word to the world that
they still survived. Each man secreted a tiny
piece of paper, with his SSN on it, in the palm of his hand.
When paraded before Ms. Fonda and a cameraman, she walked the line,
shaking
each man's hand and asking little encouraging snippets like:
"Aren't you sorry you bombed babies?" and "Are you grateful for
the humane treatment from your benevolent captors?" Believing this had
to
be an act, they each palmed her their sliver of paper. She took them
all
without missing a beat. At the end of the line and once the camera
stopped
rolling, to the shocked disbelief of the POWs, she turned to the officer
in
charge...and handed him the little
pile. Three men died from the subsequent beatings. Col Carrigan was
almost number four. For years after their release, a group of determined
former POWs Including Col Carrigan, tried to bring Ms. Fonda and others
up
on charges of treason. I don't know that they used it, but the charge of
"Negligent Homicide due to Depraved Indifference" would also seem
appropriate. Her obvious "granting of aid and comfort to the enemy",
alone,
should've been sufficient for the treason count. However, to date, Jane
Fonda has never been
formally charged with anything and continues to enjoy the privileged
life of the rich and famous.
Part of our shortfall is ignorance: most don't know such actions ever
took
place. Thought you might appreciate the knowledge. Most of you've
probably
already seen this by now... only addition I might add to these sentiments
is
to remember the
satisfaction of relieving myself into the urinal at some airbase or
another
where "zaps" of Hanoi Jane's face had been applied.

To whom it may concern:

I was a civilian economic development advisor in Viet Nam, and
was captured by the North Vietnamese communists in South Viet Nam
in 1968, and held for over 5 years. I spent 27 months in solitary
confinement, one year in a cage in Cambodia, and one year in a
"black box" in Hanoi. My North Vietnamese captors deliberately
poisoned and murdered a female missionary, a nurse in a
leprosarium in Ban me Thuot, South Vietnam, whom I buried in the jungle
near
the Cambodian border. At one time, I was weighing approximately 90
lb.. (My normal weight is 170 lb..) We were Jane Fonda's "war
criminals." When Jane Fonda was in Hanoi, I was asked by the camp
communist
political officer if I would be willing to meet with Jane Fonda. I said
yes, for I would like to tell her about the real treatment we POWs
were receiving, which was far different from the treatment purported
by the North Vietnamese, and parroted by Jane Fonda, as "humane and
lenient." Because of this, I spent three days on a rocky floor on my
knees with outstretched arms with a piece of steel placed on my hands,
and
beaten with a bamboo cane every time my arms dipped.

I had the opportunity to meet with Jane Fonda for a couple of hours after
I
was released. I asked her if she would be willing to debate me on TV.
She did not answer me, her former husband, Tom Hayden, answered for her.
She was mind controlled by her husband. This does not exemplify someone
who
should be honored as "100 Years of Great Women."

After I was released, I was asked what I thought of Jane Fonda and the
anti-war movement. I said that I held Joan Baez's husband in very
high regard, for he thought the war was wrong, burned his draft card
and went to prison in protest. If the other anti-war protesters took
this same route, it would have brought our judicial system to a halt and
ended
the war much earlier, and there wouldn't be as many on that somber
black granite wall called the Vietnam Memorial. This is democracy. This
is
the American way.

Jane Fonda, on the other hand, chose to be a traitor, and went
to Hanoi, wore their uniform, propagandized for the communists, and urged
American soldiers to desert. As we were being tortured, and
some of the POWs murdered, she called us liars. After her hero's-the
North Vietnamese communists-took over South Vietnam, they
systematically murdered 80,000 South Vietnamese political prisoners. May
their souls rest on her head forever. Shame! Shame! ( History is a
heavy
sword in the hands of those who refuse to forget it. Think of this
the next time you see Ms. Fonda-Turner at a Braves game).
Please take the time to read and forward to as many people as
you possibly can. It will eventually end up on her computer and
she needs to know that "we will never forget". Lest we forget..."100
years of great women" Jane Fonda should never be considered.

This one is being distributed all over the US. This is pretty scary-especially given the way they try to get you to call.

Be sure you read this & pass it on to all your friends & family so they don't get scammed!

MAJOR SCAM:

Don't respond to emails, phone calls, or web pages which tell you to call an "809" phone number. This is a very important issue of Scam Busters!

Because it alerts you to a scam that is spreading *extremely* quickly - can easily cost you $100 or more, and - is difficult to avoid unless you are aware of it. We'd like to thank Paul Bruemmer and Brian Stains for bringing this scam to our attention. This scam has also been identified by the National Fraud Information Center and is costing victims a lot of money.

There are lots of different permutations of this scam, but HERE'S HOW IT WORKS: You will receive a message on your answering machine or your pager, which asks you to call a number beginning with area code 809. The reason you're asked to call varies it can be to receive information about a family member who has been ill, to tell you someone has been arrested, died, to let you know you have won a wonderful prize, etc.,

In each case, you're told to call the 809 number right away. Since there are so many new area codes these days, people unknowingly return these calls. If you call from the US, you will apparently be charged $25 per- minute! Or, you'll get a long recorded message. The point is, they will try to keep you on the phone as long as possible to increase the charges. Unfortunately, when you get your phone bill, you'll often be charged more than $100.00.

WHY IT WORKS:
The 809 area code is located in the British Virgin Islands (the Bahamas). The 809 area code can be used as a "pay-per-call" number, similar to 900 numbers in the US. Since 809 is not in the US, it is not covered by U.S. regulations of 900 numbers, which require that you be notified and warned of charges and rates involved when you call a "pay-per-call" number. There is also no requirement that the company provide a time period during which you may terminate the call without being charged. Further, whereas many U.S. phones have 900 number blocking to avoid these kinds of charges, 900 number blocking will not prevent calls to the 809 area code.

We recommend that no matter how you get the message, if you are asked to call a number with an 809 area code that you don't recognize, investigate further and/or disregard the message. Be wary of email or calls asking you to call an 809 area code number. It's important to prevent becoming a victim of this scam, since trying to fight charges afterwards can become a real nightmare. That's because you did actually make the call.

If you complain, both your local phone company and your long distance carrier will not want to get involved and will most likely tell you that they are simply providing the billing for the foreign company. You'll end up dealing with a foreign company that argues they have done nothing wrong.

Last night we got a call from an individual identifying himself
as an AT&T Service technician who was conducting a test on
our telephone lines. He stated that to complete the test I
should touch nine (9), zero (0), the pound sign (#) and then
hang up. Luckily, I was suspicious and refused.

Upon contacting the telephone company, I was informed that
by pushing 90#, you give the requesting individual full access
to your telephone line, which allows them to place long
distance telephone calls billed to your home phone number. I
was further informed that this scam has been originating from
many of the local jails/prisons. I have also verified this
information with UCB Telecomm, Pacific Bell, MCI, Bell
Atlantic, GTE and NYNEX.

Please beware. DO NOT press 90# for ANYONE. The GTE
Security Department requested that I share this information
with EVERYONE I KNOW. PLEASE pass this on to
everyone YOU know. If you have mailing lists and/or
newsletters from organizations you are connected with, I
encourage you to pass on this information to them, too."

Alaska Airlines Flight 261

Paul Harvey would call this "the rest of the story.......

Recently some incredible news has been learned regarding the last few
minutes of Alaska Airlines flight 261, before it crashed the end of
January. A man related last week that he talked with an Alaska Airlines
pilot who is involved in the investigation of the crash of Alaska Flight
261.

The pilot has listened to the cockpit voice recorder from the downed
plane and reported that for the last 9 minutes of the flight, the wife of
the pastor from Monroe, Washington can be heard sharing the Gospel with
the passengers over the airplane's intercom system. (The pastor and his
wife were returning from Mexico mission trip.) Just before the final dive
into the Pacific Ocean, she can be heard leading the sinners prayer for
salvation!

The pilot also told John that the flight data recorder from the plane
indicates that there is no good explanation for the plane remaining
in the air for those final 9 minutes. But it did remain in the air until
the pastor's wife finished sharing the Gospel and presumably lead many to
Christ in those final moments. Interesting we haven't heard any of this on
the evening news... thank the Lord for the Internet...please share this
with anyone you think might enjoy.

I am writing to you now to ask for your help. I do not really
know how to start a prayer chain, but we need a miracle.

Amanda Bundy is a 6-year-old girl in Greensburg
Pennsylvania, the daughter of some very close friends
of ours. A few weeks ago her mother was giving her a hug and
felt a lump on Amanda''s back. An X-ray showed it to be some
sort of growth, and later tests discovered that is a massive
malignant tumor that has spread to all parts of her chest and
abdomen. There are no organs that are untouched and she has
more tumor in her body than she has organs.

As I write this, she is hospitalized after a biopsy of the tumor,
and her parents are waiting for the results of a bone marrow
test If her bone marrow is clean, then they have a chance to
save her with chemotherapy. If they find cancerous cells in her
bone marrow, then the only hope to save her life is a miracle.
She is in no pain yet and appears to be a perfectly healthy,
beautiful little red-haired girl. She doesn''t even know she is
sick yet and can''t understand why she has to go to the doctor
so often if she''s not sick.

I am asking for your prayers on her behalf. Please pray for her
healing and for strength and comfort for her
family. She is only six years old. Think of a six year old in
your life and imagine that life being cut short.
You can only imagine a fraction of the pain and fear her
parents are facing.

Normally I hate email chain letters but now I am asking you to
send this letter, or copies of it, to everybody you can think of
that will pray for Amanda. Please also take her name to your
church and church groups and ask others to pray for her

point he would not survive a lung transplant. He is still on life

The leading cause of breast cancer is the use of anti-perspirant.

What?

Yes ANTI-PERSPIRANT. Most of the products out there are
an anti-perspirant/deodorant combination so go home and
check your labels.

Deodorant is fine, anti-perspirant is not. Here's why:
The human body has a few areas that it uses to purge toxins;
behind the knees, behind the ears, groin area, and armpits.
The toxins are purged in the form of perspiration.

Anti-perspirant, as the name clearly indicates, prevents you
from perspiring, thereby inhibiting the body from purging
toxins from below the armpits. These toxins do not just
magically disappear. Instead, the body deposits them in the
lymph nodes below the arms since it cannot sweat them out.

This causes a high concentration of toxins and leads to cell
mutations: a.k.a.CANCER. Nearly all breast cancer tumors
occur in the upper outside quadrant of the breast area. This is
precisely where the lymph nodes are located.

Additionally, men are less likely (but not completely exempt)
to develop breast cancer prompted by anti-perspirant usage
because most of the anti-perspirant product is caught in their
hair and is not directly applied to the skin. Women who apply

My sister's co-worker has a sister in Texas who with her
husband was planning a weekend trip across the Mexican
border for a shopping spree. At the last minute their baby sitter
canceled, so they had to bring along their two year old son with
them.

They had been across the border for about an hour when the
baby got free and ran around the corner. The mother went
chasing, but the boy had disappeared. The mother found a
police officer who told her to go to the gate and wait.

Not really understanding the instructions, she did as she was
instructed. About 45minutes later, a man approached the border
carrying the boy. The mother ran to him, grateful that he had
been found. When the man realized it was the boy's mother, he
dropped the boy and ran.

The police were waiting for him and got him. The boy, was
dead. In the 45 minutes (less than) he was missing, he was cut
open and, ALL of his insides removed and his body cavity
stuffed with COCAINE. The man was going to carry him
across the border as if he were asleep. A two year old boy,
dead, discarded as if he were a piece of trash for somebody's
cocaine.

COPELAND'S -Forwarded

Ladies and Gentleman, Please be aware. I am a God fearing
African - American 21 year old woman who is sending this
message in all sincerity and honesty. This weekend a few
friends and myself decided to take friends from out of town to
Copeland's for dinner. We explained to our guest how nice
the restaurant was and how we were sure they would enjoy the
food. Our party consisted of five African American males and
four African American females from the ages of 21 to 29.

We entered Copeland's and told the hostess we would like a
table for a party of ten. The young lady paused gave us an odd
glare and then stated she would "look". She returned
approximately 15 minutes later to direct us to our table. It was
a long booth in the rear of the restaurant next to the kitchen.
When we asked if it were possible we could sit at a large
round table on the higher level of the reastaraunt, we were told
our party was too big. We ignored this and decided to sit at
the booth anyway.

Approximately two minutes after we all sat and opened our
menus one of the gentelman in our party was asked to remove
his cap. Since we were in a restaurant he understood and did
so. Approximately a minute later the manager returns and in a
very rude manner tells another gentleman in our party he has
to sit upright. Please keep in mind this young man was not
laid out in the booth, but was merely leaning on his elbow
looking at the menu. We all paused and looked at the manager
in disbelief. My friend to whom the manager was speaking,
also in disbelief asked the manager "What did you say?". The
manager then very harshly told my friend that if he did not sit
up Copeland's would not serve anyone at our table. When my
friend refused the manager told all of us to "get out!"

We remained seated and I, a college educated woman, asked
in an exteremely professional manner for the manager to
please show us in his policy where this "no slouching rule"
was stated. In disgust he walked away. When he returned he
had a police officer with him that explained he was forced to
show us out of the restaurant. He also explained if we refused
to leave we would be placed under arrest. Once we were out of
the restaraunt the officer explained to us whathappened inside
was extremely odd, and that he had never had to ask anyone
to leave for slouching, but because he was hired for security at
Copeland's he had no choice but to ask us to leave. He also
suggestedwe take this up as civil matter, which we are
definitely in the process of doing.

Thought I would share with everyone something that
happened on Tuesday night ... and I hope that you will all pass

While I was online Tuesday night, I was sent me an IM and
told me to checkout the profile of another AOL user named
CRAZY70707. Not really thinking much about it, I pulled the
profile up ... and in big red letters, the word "FROZEN" was at
the top of this profile. At first, I thought it was some kind of a
joke, but when I went to click the profile off of my screen...I
couldn't do anything...I was, as the profile said, frozen.

I sat for a few moments thinking the joke would go away and I
could continue my time on AOL. This wasn't the way it was
going to happen. The only way I could get out was to
cntrl/alt/delete. When I was able to log on again, my
computer was sluggish so I logged off again. A few hours
later when I decided to try again...I clicked on my AOL icon
and a warning came up that I would need to reinstall AOL...it
had been completely wiped from our system.

When Alan got home, he called AOL to see if they could tell
what happened. When he told the AOL rep about
CRAZY70707, she pulled the profile up and guess what...as
you might have already guessed...her computer froze up as
mine did. We had to reinstall 4.0 and 5.0 again ... and we all
know how much of a pain that is. We have lost everything in
our download file, as well as everything stored in our favorite
places.

I am sending this as a warning to you all. Do not pull this
profile up...whoever this person is, he's an idiot ... he's been
reported and I am hoping that AOL is smart and will

The last few months have revealed an alarming trend in the Government
of the United States attempting to quietly push through legislation
that will affect your use of the Internet. Under proposed legislation
the U.S. Postal Service will be attempting to bilk email users out of
"alternate postage fees".

Bill 602P will permit the Federal Govt to charge a 5 cent surcharge
on every email delivered, by billing Internet Service Providers at
source. The consumer would then be billed in turn by the ISP.
Washington D.C. lawyer Richard Stepp is working without pay to
prevent this legislation from becoming law.

The U.S. Postal Service is claiming that
lost revenue due to the proliferation of email is
costing nearly $230,000,000 in revenue per year. You
may have noticed their recent ad campaign "There is
nothing like a letter". Since the average citizen
received about 10 pieces of email per day in 1998, the
cost to the typical individual would be an additional
50 cents per day, or over $180 dollars per year, above
and beyond their regular Internet costs. Note that
this would be money paid directly to the U.S. Postal
Service for a service they do not even provide.

The whole point of the Internet is democracy and non-interference. If
the federal government is permitted to tamper with our liberties by
adding a surcharge to email, who knows where it will end. You are
already paying an exorbitant price for snail mail because of
bureacratic efficiency. It currently takes up to 6 days for a letter
to be delivered from New York to Buffalo. If the U.S. Postal Service
is allowed to tinker with email, it will mark the end of the "free"
Internet in the United States.

One congressman, Tony Schnell (R) has even suggested a
"twenty to forty dollar per month surcharge on all
Internet service" above and beyond the government's
proposed email charges. Note that most of the major
newspapers have ignored the story, the only exception

From the Ministry of Attorney General, Victoria THIS IS A

Recently on Inside Edition there was an article about several
new scams to abduct women. In one, a man comes up to a
woman in a Mall or Shopping Center and asks if she likes
Pizza. When she says she does, he offers her $100.00 to shoot a
commercial for pizza, but they need to go outside where the
lighting is better. When the woman goes out of the mall she is
abducted and assaulted.

Another ploy is a very nicely dressed man asks a woman if she
would be in a Public Service announcement to discourage drug
use. The man explains that they don't want professional actors
or celebrities, they want The average mother to do this. Once
she leaves the mall she is a victim.

The third ploy, and the most successful, a very frantic man
comes running in and asks a woman to please help him, his
baby is not breathing. She runs out of the mall following him
and also becomes a victim.

These have been happening in well-lit parking areas, in
daylight as well as nighttime, all over the country. The
abductor usually uses a van to abduct the woman. 'Inside
Edition' set up a test in a Mall and 10 out of 15 women went out
of the Mall on the Pizza and the PSA scam. And all of them
went out of the Mall on the baby scam. Please pass this along to
your friends and family as now that it has been shown
on nationwide TV there are bound to be copycats of this.

My (not me) former secretary had a terrible thing happen to her and her family last week, and I wanted to share it with all of you so that you could be warned and warn your friends and family as well. She had a gel candle burning in her bathroom ... it exploded and caught her house on fire. The house burned down and they lost everything.

The Fire Marshall told her that this is not the first incident where a gel candle has exploded and caused a fire. He said that the gel builds up a gas and often times it explodes and sets fire to the room it is in, which is what happened to her. The fire was so hot it melted the smoke alarm, and they didn't discover the fire until there was an explosion, which was her toilet blowing up, and then it was too late...the entire upstairs was engulfed in flames. Smoke damage and water damage have destroyed what wasn't destroyed by fire.

Please pass this along to anyone I missed. I wouldn't want this to happen to anyone else. Her family is deva! ! stated. All their mementos and everything of value and meaning are gone. Thanks and take care!

Note: Marty and I know a lady who loves the gel candles. She had one burning on her mantle and it caught fire just like the message above. His first instinct was to blow the candle out. Well, that didn't work, so he blew harder....the gel from the candle splattered and went everywhere. Everywhere included his face. He had 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree burns all over his face. The gel doesn't cool like wax does, so the bits that were still on his face continued to burn him. And you can't wipe the stuff off, it just rolls up and keeps burning. Please don't use gel candles. Fortunately his scars are not noticeable now, but the "what ifs" are tremendous.

We had a similar experience. I had received as a gift a gel candle from Avon. It was contained in a wine goblet, was sort of purple gel with glitter in the gel. We had it on our dresser in the bedroom. Once when it was burning, the entire solid turned to liquid and the glitter pieces "jumped" randomly out of the wine glass, taking drops of gel with it, getting all over the dresser and window curtain. A weird scene to say the least. Needless to say, I put the flame out and emptied the remaining liquefied gel into the toilet.

This is happening in Montreal. A couple of weeks ago, in a movie
theatre, a person sat on something sharp in one of the seats. When
she stood up to see what it was, a needle was found poking through
the seat with an attached note saying, "You have been infected with
HIV". The Centers for Disease Control reports similar events have
taken place in several other cities recently. All of the needles tested
HAVE been positive for HIV.

The CDC also reports that needles have been found in the coin return
areas of pay phones and soda machines. Everyone is asked to use extreme
caution when confronted with these types of situations. All public
chairs should be thoroughly but safely inspected prior to any use. A
thorough visual inspection is considered a bare minimum. Furthermore,
they ask that everyone notify their family members and friends of the

Hillary Clinton and the Black Panthers

Back in 1969 a group of Black Panthers decided that a
fellow black panther named Alex Rackley needed to die.
Rackley was suspected of disloyalty. Rackley was first tied
to a chair. Once safely immobilized, his friends tortured him for
hours by, among other things, pouring boiling water on him.
When they got tired of torturing Rackley, Black Panther member,
Warren Kimbo took Rackley outside and put a bullet in his head.
Rackley's body was later found floating in a river about 25 miles
north of New Haven, Conn.

Perhaps at this point you're curious as to what happened to these
Black Panthers. In 1977, that's only eight years later, only one
of the killers was still in jail.
The shooter, Warren Kimbro, managed to get a scholarship to Harvard.
He later became an assistant dean at Eastern Connecticut State College.

Isn't that something? As a '60s radical you can pump a bullet into
someone's head, and a few years later, in the same state, you can
become an assistant college dean! Only in America!

Erica Huggins was the lady who served the Panthers by boiling the water
for Mr. Rackley's torture. Some years later Ms. Huggins was elected
to a California School Board.

How in the world do you think these killers got off so easy?

Maybe it was in some part due to the efforts of two people who came
to the defense of the Panthers.
These two people actually went so far as to shut down Yale University
with demonstrations in defense of the accused Black Panthers during
their trial.

One of these people was none other than Bill Lan Lee. Mr. Lee, or
Mr. Lan Lee, as the case may be, isn't a college dean. He isn't a
member of a California School Board. He is now head of the US Justice
Department's Civil Rights Division.

O.K., so who was the other Panther defender? Is this other notable
Panther defender now a school board member? Is this other Panther
apologist now an assistant college dean?

No, Neither! The other Panther defender was, like Lee, a radical
law student at Yale University at the time.

She is now known as The "smartest woman in the world." She is none
other than the Democratic candidate for the US Senate from the state of
New York----our lovely First Lady, the incredible Hillary Rodham
Clinton.

During a recent study of KFC done at the University of New
Hampshire, they found some very upsetting facts.

company has changed it's name? Kentucky Fried Chicken has
become KFC.

Be Careful even at McDonald's

Hi, My name is Lauren Archer, my son Kevin and I lived in Sugarland,
TX. On October 2cd, 1994 I took my only son to McDonald's for his 3rd
birthday.

After he finished lunch, I allowed him to play in the ball pit. When
he started whining later on, I asked him what was wrong, he pointed to
the back of his pull-up and simply said "Mommy, it hurts." But I
couldn't find anything wrong with him at that time. I bathed him when
we got home, and it was at that point when I found a welt on his left
buttock. Upon investigating, it seemed as if there was something like a
splinter under the welt. I made an appointment to have it taken out the
next day, but soon he started vomiting and shaking, then his eyes
rolled back into his head.

From there, we went to the emergency room. He died later that night. It
turned out that the welt on his buttock was the tip of a hypodermic
needle that had broken off inside. The autopsy revealed that Kevin had
died from heroine overdose. The next week, the police removed the balls
from the ball pit and lo and behold. There was rotten food, several
hypodermic needles: some full; some used; knives, half-eaten candy,
diapers, feces, and the stench of urine. If a child is not safe in a
child's play area then where?

Microwaving Water to Heat it Up

I feel that the following is information that any one who uses a
microwave oven to heat water should be made aware of. About
five days ago my 26-year old son decided to have a cup of
instant coffee. He took a cup of water and put it in the
microwave to heat it up (something that he had done numerous
times before). I am not sure how long he set the timer for but he
told me he wanted to bring the water to a boil.

When the timer shut the oven off, he removed the cup from the
oven. As he looked into the cup he noted that the water was not
boiling but instantly the water in the cup "blew up" into his face.
The cup remained intact until he threw it out of his hand but all
the water had flew out into his face due to the buildup of energy.

His whole face is blistered and he has 1st and 2nd degree burns
to his face which may leave scarring. He also may have lost
partial sight in his left eye. While at the hospital, the doctor who
was attending to him Stated that this a fairly common occurrence
and water (alone) should never be heated in a microwave oven.
If water is heated in this manner, something should be placed in
the cup to diffuse the energy such as a wooden stir stick, tea bag,
etc. It is however a much safer choice to boil the water in a tea
kettle.

On NPR's Morning Edition, Nina Totenberg said that if the Supreme Court
supports Congress, it is in effect the end of NEA (National Endowment
for the Arts).

This situation creates great concerns about Congressional funding for
creative arts in America, since NEA provides major support for NPR
(National Public Radio) & PBS (Public Broadcasting System), and numerous
other creative and performing arts. If NEA is lost or weakened, our
lives are similarly diminished.

In spite of the efforts of each station to reduce spending costs and
streamline their services, some government officials believe that the
funding currently going to these programs is too large a portion of
funding for something which is seen as not worthwhile. Currently, taxes
from the general public for PBS equal $1.12 per person per year, and the

National Endowment for the Arts equals $.64 a year. A January 1995
CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll indicated that 76% of Americans wish to keep
funding for PBS, third only to national defense and law enforcement as
the most valuable programs for federal funding.

Each year, the Senate and House Appropriations committees each have 13
subcommittees with jurisdiction over many programs and agencies. Each
subcommittee passes its own appropriation bill. The goal each year is to
have each bill signed by the beginning of the fiscal year, which is
October 1. (Now postponed about 2 weeks)

The only way that our representatives can be aware of the base of
support for PBS and funding for these types of programs is by making our
voices heard.

salads and about $20.00 for a scarf. As I glanced at the bottom of the statement,

I called Neiman's Accounting Dept. and told them the waitress said it was "two-

I witnessed and was part of, an arrest at my local mall yesterday.
I was shopping with my daughter and eating dinner with her. I had

which caused me to watch him closer. He pulled out a
"Palm Pilot" and swiped the person's credit card, then returned
the PP to his jacket. Then, he went and swiped it again in the
cart's machine.

Bells went off in my head! I got my daughter and waited
for the purchase to finish. I waited for the shopper
to leave and then after a safe distance, I caught up with her.
I told her what I'd seen; the vendor swiping her credit card
a second time. We went to the mall office and asked for
them to call the police. We watched over the mall camera
as the police arrested the vendor and took the
Palm Pilot out of his pocket.

Believe it. I was reading the NY Daily News this morning
and a story about this very thing. So, as a public service
to all of you and your friends and readers, please be warned
of this as we turn to the 21st century and the advancement of
methods of crime.

The new and fast method of stealing credit cards is the Palm
Pilot. The device could store thousands of credit card numbers
and could be downloaded and sent anywhere in the world and used.
This new form of high tech credit card fraud is starting to
become wide spread. I just witnessed this myself.

So always have the vendors in your view and watch them like a hawk.

Bloomingdale's foiled an alleged credit card scam that may have affected a
large number of shoppers.

Police Commissioner Howard Safir said Tuesday an investigation is continuing
to determine how many credit card numbers are stored on a Palm Pilot that is
believed to belong to Tania Ventura, a 26-year-old cashier at the swank
Manhattan department store.

The scam was discovered Monday when the tourist, a financial analyst whose
name was not released, noticed his card was swiped twice when he purchased
sunglasses.

"He asked what this was about, and he did not get a sufficient explanation,
so he complained to the manager, and the manager then called us," Safir
said.

After swiping a credit card through the store's credit card device, Ventura
allegedly swiped it a second time through a credit card scanner attached to
her Palm Pilot, Safir said.

"This device is capable of storing thousands of credit card numbers, and
obviously, this individual was involved in stealing people's credit card
numbers to sell or use for fraudulent purposes," Safir said.

Ventura was charged with criminal possession of forgery devices, unlawful
duplication of computer data, criminal possession of computer material and
criminal possession of stolen property -- all felony charges. She could face
up to seven years in prison if convicted.

Safir urged shoppers never to let credit cards out of their sight once they
give on to a cashier. This is the first time police have seen the practice
in New York City, Safir added.

Bloomingdale's spokeswoman Bonnie Brownlee said the company is cooperating
fully with the police. She declined to comment further because the case is
pending in court.

That's what the victim thought, but when she awoke she found out that

strong substance to cause anyone who breathes the fumes to

Following is a message I received from my sister. It details a
situation which may be spreading. Please take a few minutes to read it.

A while back Jo sent me an email about someone on the mainland
who had died from drinking a soda without washing the top of the can
first. The person was killed by the bacteria that live in dried rat urine.

Yesterday, Aki's very good friend, Dwayne Okita, died from similar
circumstances! Dwayne was a stockclerk for Radio Shack.

He was sent to Maui to clean up a storeroom at their Maui store. When
he got back he complained to Aki that the place was filthy, and he had
noticed rat or mouse droppings in some areas.

A couple of days later he thought he was coming down with stomach flu...
achy joints, headache, and throwing up. He went to bed and never really
got up.

Within two days he was feeling so weak, he called Aki on the phone to
please come over and check him out (he didn't want to alarm his parents
who are very elderly). Aki said his blood pressure had dropped to 66
and his face and eyeballs were yellow.

He rushed Dwayne to emergency at Pali Momi, where the doctor diagnosed
massive organ failure. He told Aki to notify all relatives as he didn't

This would be well and good, except that they paid nothing in on any kind of retirement, and neither does any other Senator or Congressman.

This fine retirement comes right out of the General Fund: our tax money. While we who pay for it all, draw an average of $1000/month from Social Security.

Imagine for a moment that you could structure a retirement plan so desirable that people would have extra deducted so that they could increase their own personal retirement income. A retirement plan that works so well, that Railroad employees, Postal Workers, and others who aren't in it, would clamor to get in.

SPIDER ALERT

According to an article by Dr. Beverly Clark, in the Journal of
the United Medical Association (JUMA), the mystery behind a
recent spate of deaths has been solved. If you haven't already
heard about it in the news, here is what happened.

3 women in Chicago, turned up at hospitals over a 5 day
period, all with the same symptoms. Fever, chills, and
vomiting, followed by muscular collapse, paralysis, and
finally, death. There were no outward signs of trauma.
Autopsy results showed toxicity in the blood.

These women did not know each other, and seemed to have
nothing in common. It was discovered, however, that they had
all visited the same restaurant (Big Chappies, at Blare
Airport), within days of their deaths. The health department
descended on the restaurant, shutting it down. The food, water,
and air conditioning were all inspected and tested, to no avail.

The big break came when a waitress at the restaurant was
rushed to the hospital with similar symptoms. She told doctors
that she had been on vacation, and had only went to the
restaurant to pick up her check. She did not eat or drink while
she was there, but had used the restroom. That is when one
toxicologist, remembering an article he had read, drove out to
the restaurant, went into the restroom, and lifted the toilet seat.

Under the seat, out of normal view, was small spider. The
spider was captured and brought back to the lab, where it was
determined to be the South American Blush Spider (arachnius
gluteus), so named because of its reddened flesh color. This
spider's venom is extremely toxic, but can take several days to
take effect. They live in cold, dark, damp, climates, and toilet
rims provide just the right atmosphere.Several days later a
lawyer from Los Angeles showed up at a hospital emergency

To my friends with children or soon to have children....this was
passed on to me by my best friend who works for Boeing in
Seattle, his own true story...FYI.

I wanted to tell you a story about a very serious thing. We still
use sun screen on our whole family, but we are more cautious
now. I tell you this only to make you more aware and use
caution. When Zack was 2 years old I put on the waterproof
sun screen like I always had.I don't know how but he got some
in his eyes. Most likely from his hands. It happens so easily at
that age or any age really.He started screaming!! So I tried to
flush it out with water. But guess what? Didn't matter . . .
Remember *WATERPROOF.* So I just held him and let he
cry, thinking the salty tears would flush it all out. But it got
worse. I called the poison control center. They told me to
RUSH Zack to ER NOW!! I was surprised. I got him there and
they rushed me back without a second to spare. They started
flushing his eyes out with special medications. Anyway, I
found out for the first time that MANY kids each year lose their
sight to waterproof sun screen. It burns the eye and they lose
complete sight.!!! I was appalled. I could not believe the sun
screen we use to help keep our kids safe from skin cancer can
make them go blind!

Well I made a big stink about it. I wrote the sun screen
company and they admitted to the problem but they said
something to the fact that the seriousness of getting skin cancer
is much worse then the chance of going blind. I think it's wrong
if just one child goes blind!

They should change ingredients or should at least have a huge
warning on it. But they claim that if you put a huge warning on
it then parents won't use it due to fear. I kind-of get that but
there needs to be a change. We did this huge article in our big
city and went on the news warning parents. Education along
with the importance of using it.

Well anyway Zack did go blind for 2 days, it was horrible. So
please be careful!!! Don't stop using sun screen, just be very
careful your children don't touch there eyes for at least 15-20

HEY! HOW ABOUT TACO BELL?

This girl was really in a hurry one day so she just stopped off at
a Taco Bell and got a Chicken soft taco and ate it on the way
home. That night she noticed her jaw was kind of tight and
swollen. The next day it was a little worse so she went to her
doctor.

He said she just had an allergic reaction to something and gave
her some cream to rub on her jaw to help. After a couple of days
the swelling had just gotten worse and she could hardly move
her jaw. She went back to her doctor to see what was wrong. Her
doctor had no idea so he started to run some tests. They scrubbed
out the inside of her mouth to get tissue samples and they also
took some saliva samples.

Well, they found out what was wrong. Apparently her chicken
soft taco had a pregnant roach in it, then she ate it-the eggs then
somehow got into her saliva glands and well, she was incubating
them. They had to remove a couple a layers of her inner mouth
to get all the eggs out. If they hadn't figured out what was going
on, the eggs would have hatched inside the lining of her

guys on my floor. She's seriously injured. I talked to my school council
