Amie J. Ahanchian
Amie J. Ahanchian is a Manager in KPMG LLP's International Corporate Tax Services group, specializing in international trade and customs. A licensed U.S. Customs broker, Amie advises multinational companies on trade remedies, foreign-trade zones, preferential trade programs, compliance with U.S. Customs and U.S. Food and Drug Administration import programs, as well as other international trade and customs issues. Originally from Houston, Texas, Amie is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the U.S. Court of International Trade, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Amie holds a J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law, where she was a member of the Texas Intellectual Property Law Journal and served as a law clerk in the Office of the Lieutenant Governor of Texas, Rick Perry. Amie received a B.S. in Finance from Trinity University, where she also majored in Spanish and studied at the Universidad de Sevilla in Spain. Amie lives in Washington, DC where she is involved with several professional organizations, including the Washington International Trade Association and the National Association of Foreign Trade Zones. Amie is a member of the Iranian American Bar Association and is on the editorial board of The IABA Review. Amie is also active in a number of civic and philanthropic organizations. As a member of the Junior League of Washington, Amie spends time promoting adult literacy at a transitional housing facility operated by Community Life Family Services. Amie additionally focuses her volunteer efforts on women's cancer prevention. Amie's recent endeavors include working as an American Cancer Society volunteer to educate women in underserved communities about cancer prevention and fundraising for and participating in the Susan G. Komen Foundation's three-day walk. |
