Majid Majidi is an Iranian film producer, director, and screenwriter.
As of 2004, he has been the only Iranian director who has been nominated for an Academy Award with the film Children of Heaven in 1999 by the U.S. Academy for 71st Annual Academy Award (Oscar) for best foreign language film. He lost the award to the Chinese film Hidden Dragon and Crouching Tiger by Ang Lee.
Majidi has two other movies after Children of Heaven: The Color of Paradise (2000) and Baran (2001). He is now attempting to make a documentary movie about Afghan refuges in Iran.
