Shirin & Javad Rahimian Shirin and Javad Rahimian immigrated to the United States in 1981 and settled in Sacramento, California. Javad earned a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from U.C. Davis and a master.s degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from University of Florida in 1975. Shirin holds a Bachelor's degree in English literature from U.C. Davis and received an MBA degree in 1989 from California State University in Sacramento. The couple co-founded Motion Control Engineering, Inc. (MCE), headquartered in Rancho Cordova, California in 1983. MCE has grown into the dominant company making elevator control systems in North America. The family is also a partner in Parlin Development Company in Rancho Cordova, a real estate development firm established in 2001. The Rahimians have been involved in many philanthropic activities since immigrating to the United States. In 2000, Shirin and Javad formed a scholarship endowment fund at U.C. Davis for Iranian American students in need of financial assistance. Shirin presently serves on the endowment.s board. She is also a member of the Shifa Community Clinic board, a student run community clinic that treats uninsured patients for free. During the past three years, Shirin has helped coordinate the Iranian Food and Cultural Festival in Sacramento. Javad is a member of the Iranian American Chamber of Commerce, serving on its board of directors from 2000 to 2004. Javad is presently a trustee of U.C. Davis Foundation and an active member of the U.C. Davis Alumni organization. Javad and Shirin have also been involved in campaigning and fund raising for Goli Ameri for Congress as well as other political candidate such as Lou Blanece for Sheriff and Phil Angelides for California State Treasurer. |
